K 4 Year Old Program

7:50am-2:50pm Monday-Friday

The K 4 program will prepare students in the areas of phonics, numbers, cursive writing, and developmental skills so they will be ready for kindergarten. This unique style pre-K program is a full day program, students must turn 4 years old by September 1 of the year enrolling.

The Four-Year-Old Kindergarten Program at Baldwinsville
Christian Academy uses the A Beka curriculum. This is the curriculum used throughout the elementary grades.

The four main areas taught are Bible, phonics/reading, writing, and numbers.

Bible is the first subject taught each day. The class will consist of learning the Pledge to the Flag, memory verse work, songs, prayer, and an illustrated Bible lesson.

The phonics and reading material will help your K 4 child start the reading process. In the first half of the year, they begin mastering the vowels and consonants and their sounds. This process leads to forming blends and beginning to read simple words. The children continue learning the phonics but also start reading groups during the second semester.

The cursive writing material correlates with their phonics. They
learn to write each lower case letter first. They will then connect letters to form blends and simple words. Some of the capital letters are introduced as well.

In numbers, the K 4 student will learn to recognize numbers 1-20. They will practice counting to 100, distinguish before and after numbers, larger and smaller numbers, write 1-20, and answer simple addition combinations.

Other weekly activities will include physical education, art, music, and language development.

By the end of the year, your K 4 student will be ready and eager to take that next step into Kindergarten and all the wonderful things that learning experience will bring!!!

We have been very pleased with this school. Our son has matured a lot since he has been attending BCA. At no other school has he been so totally accepted, included and loved by his peers. The school has an atmosphere of respect and caring for one another. Good character is encouraged and exemplified by the adults. Older students are expected to be good role models for the younger students. You won't find more dedicated teachers and staff anywhere. The academics are excellent but teachers go beyond the academics by being concerned for the whole student. The school motto is 'Making much of Christ.' I'd say they really are living the motto. Top-notch teachers that are wonderful and caring. My children are well above their peers that attend other schools in their academics. BCA is the true meaning of a Christian school - they address issues in a Biblical way and not just gloss over things - I've seen this from the youngest right through the high school students. This little school is the best thing in the area! — Submitted by a parent, GreatSchools.com
